GRADE SCHOOL MEET SEPT. 24TH

The grade school meet is a big day for the Arrowhead cross country program! The grade school meet is on Sept. 24th. Arrowhead cross country teams play host to about 1000 young runners and for everything to go right we need the entire team to be organized and ready to work.

Step 1: Everyone has to wear their team shirt (purple). It's easier for the coaches to find you. YOU SHOULD HAVE WARM CLOTHING IN CASE IT GETS COLD. YOU'LL BE THERE FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS!!!

Step 2: Make sure you know your job and you do the job you're assigned. You can't just leave your area because you want to be by your friend. Here's the jobs:

CAPTAINS: YOU WILL HAND OUT INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM AWARDS AFTER THE MEET. PLEASE BE THERE!

SENIORS: YOU HAVE THE FINISH LINE. MOVE THE RUNNERS THROUGH THE CHUTE, KEEP THEM IN LINE AND PULL THE TAGS FROM THEIR SHIRTS FOR RESULTS.

JUNIORS: YOU ARE AT THE LINE BUT YOU NEED TO KEEP THE TAGS IN ORDER, RUBBER BAND THEM TOGETHER, GIVE THEM TO JULIET, MORGAN AND EMILY. YOU ALSO HAND OUT ANY AWARDS AT THE FINISH LINE.

SOPH: YOU HAVE TO WRITE THE NAMES OF ANY RUNNER THAT DOESNT HAVE A TAG. THE TAG NEEDS THEIR FIRST, LAST NAME AND AGE. THE TAG HAS TO BE PAPER CLIPPED TO THE RUNNERS. IF YOU SEE A TAG THAT IS ON THE RUNNERS SHIRT WITHOUT A PAPER CLIP IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ALL OF YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW THE STARTING TIMES AND THE START LOCATIONS OF THE RACES. I WILL HAVE A HANDOUT FOR YOU. I WILL ALSO SHOW YOU THE LOCATION THE DAY BEFORE THE MEET.

FROSH IN GROUP 3 AND 4: YOU WILL BE PLACING TAGS ON RUNNERS AS WELL WITH THE SOPH. 4 OF YOU WILL BE IN THE REGISTRATION AREA WRITING TAGS AND HANDING OUT TAGS TO PARENTS. YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW WHEN THE START OF THE RACES ARE AND THE STARTING LINE LOCATION. THIS WILL BE EXPLAINED AND SHOWN TO YOU BEFORE THE MEET.
**JULIET DE LA HUERGA, MORGAN AND EMILY STELPFLUG WILL BE OUR RUNNERS. YOU 3 WILL NEED TO GET THE TAGS FROM THE FINISH LINE, THE JUNIORS WILL HAVE THEM AND RUN THEM TO NORTH CAMPUS WHERE WE TAKE OUR TEAM ICEBATH.

FROSH IN GROUP 1 AND 2: YOU WILL BE INSIDE DOING THE RESULTS. IT REQUIRES ALL OF YOU TO WORK TOGETHER AND RELAX. WE CANT HAVE YOU ACTING ALL CRAZY. WE NEED TO TAKE OUR TIME DOING THIS SO ITS DONE CORRECTLY. THE TAGS HAVE TO STAY IN ORDER AND PLACED ON BOARDS IN THE SAME ORDER AS WE RECEIVE THEM. WE ALSO HAVE TO WRITE IN THE TIMES NEXT TO THE TAGS. IF WE MAKE A MISTAKE ALL THE RESULTS WILL BE WRONG. I WILL BE PLACING YOU IN GROUPS OF 3 AND EACH OF YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED A RACE TO WORK ON.

ANY PARENTS THAT WANT TO HELP JUST LET ME KNOW. WE SHOULD HAVE PLENTY OF WORKERS BUT SOMETIMES IT HELPS HAVING A PARENT OR TWO WORK WITH THE GIRLS ON RESULTS.

PARENTS

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank all of you that donated money to the Arrowhead Cross Country tent fund. I ordered the frame about a week and a half ago and hope to get it before the Janesville invite.

Cross Country is a wonderful team sport. Our team isn't made of just the runners it has a strong supporting cast of parents. Without all of you and the support you give to the athletes and the program so much of what we do in cross country would not be possible.

A reminder that we have a team picnic after the conference meet on October 16th. All parents, family members and grandparents are invited to the team picnic.

Sincerely,

Coach Kaczor
Coach Brauer
Coach Dai
Coach Stanley

Handout for ordering spirit wear (team and parents) will be given out then if you haven’t received one. This meeting will take place in the junior study hall at 6:00PM. The meeting should last about an hour.

Saturday, August 21st the team will be going to Pike Lake for a training run and picnic. We will leave Arrowhead at 8:00 and return around 12:00 (depending on the weather). The runners always look forward to this as we get in some good training and have an opportunity to play some games as well. We are asking the JUNIORS AND SENIOR to bring a dish (fruit or veggies) to pass. Please send a serving spoon with the dish. We will be getting bagels and drinks for everyone.

Other notes:

Team pictures on Thursday, August 26th @ 8:00AM at the track. Uniforms should be worn to practice. The runners should change into a practice shirt for the run following pictures.

Our first meet is Friday, August 27th at Arrowhead. Information (race times) will be handed out that week at practice.
